🚂 BIG NEWS, NGLS CREW! 🚂
The final push to finish our clubhouse and workshop is officially underway — and this is where you come in!
We’re launching a series of every‑other‑weekend workdays, giving everyone plenty of chances to jump in, lend a hand, learn something new, and be part of the team that brings this project across the finish line. This is one of the biggest upgrades in our club’s history, and we want as many members as possible to be part of it.
Whether you swing a hammer, paint a wall, move materials, or simply bring good energy — your help matters. Every workday gets us one step closer to celebrating a fully finished clubhouse and workshop at our October Fall Meet… and yes, we’re aiming to have it done this year 😉
Come out, get involved, make memories, and help build something the whole club will enjoy for years to come.
Let’s do this — together.

An Almost Leftover Turkey Fun Run Day
The weather was beautiful but a little cold for most to come out and enjoy the railroad today but that didn’t stop John T. and a few others from bundling up and spending time at the railroad. John sent the following note and pictures showing the work he did on the container mural as well as installing some great looking signs at a few switches.

New container paints include: “K” Line, Sea Land, 48-foot APL, and an almost complete Maersk. Zoom in on the remaining photos and you can read the “road signs” telling you which track you’re taking at the turnout.

Unplanned workday produce progress on several projects
A small work crew, which consisted of John T., Wes, Kenneth, and Norm, came out on Saturday along with a few who stopped by to say hello. The work crew started work on building out the last switch needed to connect the east end of the “Grandma Line” to the railroad.
Once this switch is complete and installed the last 80 or 90 feet of the “Grandma Line” can be connected completing another change to our mainline traffic. However, before this can be done, we will need to build a retaining wall most likely out of the cut container panels we have similar to what we did earlier this year near the Nicol bridge. With the installation of a new retaining wall, we will also need to bring in more dirt reduce the drop off on the east end of the “Grandma Line”.

Another great year of running trains is in the books
What a way to close out our 11th season of operating on our railroad with eight steam engines and three diesel locomotives running on the railroad this past Saturday. A special thank you to our members, volunteers, and guests for making the day and year such a great success. The railroad may be closed for the season but that doesn’t mean the crews aren’t still hard at work finishing up current projects and beginning work on winter railroad maintenance.
The members of North Georgia Live Steamers look forward to seeing you around the railroad in 2025. If you or someone you know are interested in getting involved stop by one of our workdays and meet the crew and get involved.

What an incredible season 2024 has been. We look forward to seeing you around the railroad soon. As we transition into our winter season of working on repairs and other projects, we invite everyone to get involved. We have a number of projects around the railroad that you can get involved in. Check out our project page for more details. Our 2025 season will be announced in January and hope to see everyone in April when the railroad comes alive again.
Final Reminder: Who is interested in a 2025 Printed Calendar
Final Remidner
We are working on the 2025 schedule and looking to see how many people are interested in purchasing printed calendars like we have had the past several years. As in years past the cost of the calendars depends on how many are ordered.
Please submit your interest in purchasing printed calendars by Monday, November 11th.
