North Georgia Live Steamers will once again be participating in the Trains, Trains, Trains! event at The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History. The event is this Saturday, January 28th and Sunday, January 29th from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year will be the museum’s biggest model train display to date along with train-themed activities and historic trains. Mark your calendar for the 2023 club fun days happening with North Georgia Live Steamers. These days are for club members, invited, guests, and those in the live steam hobby. The current club fun day events are scheduled on Saturday, March 4th, April 1st, June 17th, August 26th, September 2nd, and November 25th. Don’t forget our Fall meet scheduled for Thursday, October 19th through Sunday, October 22nd. Setup for the event will be on Friday, January 27th at 2 p.m. Anyone who is planning on displaying equipment will need to be able to be at the museum by 2 p.m. to unload and transport equipment into the museum. We received word that the AmazonSmile program which allows customers of Amazon the ability to have a donation made to a not-for-profit organization like ours based on purchases they made through smile.amazon.com website. Since joining the program, a couple of years ago, we have received nearly $1,000 in donations through this program and want to say thank you to all who participated.

We will continue to look for programs like this and let you know how your everyday purchases can turn into a donation to North Georgia Live Steamers. In the meantime, don’t forget you still have a couple of other ways to support the railroad through a donation. The first is by making a direct donation online or via mail while the second is through the Kroger Community Rewards program which takes a portion of your everyday purchases at Kroger and turns them into a donation to North Georgia Live Steamers. Reminder: Sailing Trip Silent Auction Benefitting North Georgia Live Steamers
We have a special opportunity to participate in a silent auction with the proceeds benefiting North Georgia Live Steamers. You are bidding on a chance to experience sailing on Lake Lanier. You will receive a four-hour sail aboard a 32-foot sailboat with a licensed captain. The experience is being offered by Lanier Sailing Academy and hosted by Bob and Ann Cummings.
We have a special opportunity to participate in a silent auction with the proceeds benefiting North Georgia Live Steamers. You are bidding on a chance to experience sailing on Lake Lanier. You will receive a four-hour sail aboard a 32-foot sailboat with a licensed captain. The experience is being offered by Lanier Sailing Academy and hosted by Bob and Ann Cummings.

Train Ride Schedule announced for the 2023 Season
Our 2023 train ride schedule has been set and we look forward to seeing everyone around the railroad this season. The schedule for the 2023 season will be Saturday, April 29th, May 20th, October 7th, and November 4th from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Riders must be at least 18 months old or older. No expectant mothers allowed to ride on the railroad. Tickets can be purchased on site. CASH Only. No Credit Cards or Debit Cards accepted.

A change to the 2023 nomination list has changed as of Monday, January 2, 2023. At this point Calvin Abernathy has withdrawn his nomination for the 2023 board. For anyone who had voted for Calvin electronically will be contacted to update your submission based on this change. As a reminder in person voting will take place this Saturday, January 7, 2023, during our normally scheduled January meeting. The meeting starts at 1 p.m. and will be held at the site. Voting members must have a Full member status and have paid there 2023 dues before voting takes place.
For those that are not going to be at the meeting and still wish to cast a vote you may use the information below to submit your ballot. Again, you must be a Full member and have paid your 2023 dues in order for ballot to be counted prior to the January 7, 2023 meeting. 2023 NGLS Online Voting
Voting for the 2023 board is now open to all FULL Members who are NOT planning on attending the January 7, 2023, meeting. The nominees for the 2023 board were voted on during our December 3, 2022, meeting and because some positions only had a single nominee those individuals automatically are elected to the 2023 board in accordance with our bylaws.
