The dismantling of the DMTRR Railways (circa 1998)
Sometime around 1998 the Southern Railway Museum sold its property and moved to a new home. With the move North Georgia Live Steamers packed up the Duluth & Mount Tabor Railways and prepared to build out a new railroad on Conyers, Georgia. Here are some pictures of the DMTRR being dismantled.
The railroad was eventually dismantled around 1998 after the museum sold the property and moved to a new location. This began the search for a new home for a new railroad. Today North Georgia Live Steamers operates at a new home in Conyers, which is 30 miles east of Atlanta, at the Georgia International Horse Park. Construction began on the new railroad, the Conyers & Hightower Trail Railroad, in 2010 and today has around 2 miles of track on the track with more than 30 acres of land to grow into. Here are some pictures after the track panels where pulled up off the road bed.

North Georgia Live Steamers Steam Locomotive Archive
The history of the NGLS steam engine is a little fuzzy but one thing is for sure it has created many smiles for those who have operated or ridden on this great locomotive. Here are some early pictures of the locomotive when the club acquired it many years ago.

Description of video on YouTube
A very rare film with commentaries by gentlemen who formed the Brotherhood Of Live Steamers (BLS/IBLS) in the 1930s. The film was transferred and newer video added by Joe Rice of New Life Productions. Fortunately a member of the Golden Gate Live Steamers had the tape to preserve our history.
