Our public run days is how North Georgia Live Steamers funds the railroad. Because we have had to cancel our first few run days of the seasons we currently do not have any funds coming in during this time. Thankfully we are an all volunteers non-profit and with that said, the funds we collect during our run days goes directly back into the railroad to help us with locomotive repairs, insurance, track expansion, and other items.

Club Equipment Maintenance Policy
The board of directors of NGLS has decided on the following policy with respect to the club owned locomotives…
Effective as of March 11, 2020
The board of directors of NGLS has decided on the following policy with respect to the club owned locomotives:
Each locomotive shall have two superintendents.
Effective immediately the superintendents are:
Club Diesel: Scott Moore and Joe Fabregas
Club Steamer: Bob Cummings and Gene Lurwig
These appointments will be updated as need by the Club President with the advice and counsel of the board.
Absolutely NO repairs or maintenance (other than refueling) shall be performed on a club locomotive without the express approval of one of the superintendents.
This does not mean in writing and, of course, members are expected to use common sense. If a locomotive catches fire you may extinguish it.
Other individuals may work on the locomotives provided that one of the superintendents has given prior approval.
All problems observed while operating a locomotive should be reported to at least one of the co-superintendents.
The superintendents for each locomotive will certify which club members are authorized to operate their locomotive.

Here is a quick list of just some of the work performed:
Club Diesel had an oil change, air filter, and new spark plugs.
Club Diesel was cleaned and polished with riding cars also getting cleaned up.
The “Bob’s” (Ben and Gene) moved rock pile and removed a tree stump
Some gravel was added near the red container to help with drainage
Removed some trees and limbs from around the railroad
Clean up pile of switches and track panels
Finally chased leaves around the railroad in hopes of getting them moved into the wood.
A shout out to the crew for getting many of these projects completed. We still have a few more outstanding projects that need to be completed before our opening on Saturday, March 28th. Our next official workday is scheduled for Saturday, March 21st. During this time, we will finish track work, signal and equipment maintenance.
Impromptu Workday Planned for Saturday, March 7th at 8:30 a.m.
With a break in the weather we are putting together a workday for this Saturday, March 7th. The plan is to do some track work on the east loop, remove a few stumps, trim some trees, and perform some equipment maintenance. If you are able to come let everyone know.

🚂 BIG NEWS, NGLS CREW! 🚂
The final push to finish our clubhouse and workshop is officially underway — and this is where you come in!
We’re launching a series of every‑other‑weekend workdays, giving everyone plenty of chances to jump in, lend a hand, learn something new, and be part of the team that brings this project across the finish line.
