Our 3rd Public Run Day event of the 2024 season is in the books.
What an incredibly beautiful day it was to bring the family out to ride trains this past Saturday. A big shout out to our friends from the Georgia chapter of Operation LifeSaver for coming out and building awareness to railroad grade crossing safety. We saw so many families carrying Operation LifeSaver bags full of goodies throughout the day. A special thanks to all of our club members and other volunteers who came out and made the day such a success. If you missed the day because your favorite college football team was playing don’t feel bad you have one more opportunity to bring the family out on Saturday, November 9th as the railroad closes out the 2024 train ride season. We look forward to seeing everyone around the railroad again soon.

🚂 UNPLANNED WORKDAY THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 15TH! 🚂
The momentum is building, and we're making a special push to keep the clubhouse and workshop project moving forward!
A crew will be gathering this Saturday, August 15th, to finish priming the ceiling and end wall and begin painting so that lighting can be installed during our next official workday. With the ceiling installation now complete, we're getting closer to transforming the containers into a finished clubhouse and workshop that the entire club can enjoy.
This workday will also give us an opportunity to discuss and plan the next major phase of the project: the building structure that will wrap around the containers. We'll be reviewing plans for preparing the tops of the containers, painting, and other tasks needed before construction begins.
We can also use additional help around the property. There is still yard cleanup, storm debris removal, and railroad track repair work that needs attention. Every helping hand makes a difference, and there is plenty to do regardless of your skill level.
Whether you want to paint, clean up, help with planning, work on the railroad, or just lend a hand wherever needed, your help matters. This is one of the most significant projects our club has undertaken, and every volunteer contributes to bringing it across the finish line.
Come out, get involved, enjoy some fellowship with fellow members, and help us continue the progress. The more hands we have, the more we can accomplish.
📅 Saturday, August 15th ⏰ Starting at 8:30 AM
Bring your favorite tools, plenty of water, lunch, and a good sense of humor.
Let's keep the momentum rolling and get one step closer to a finished clubhouse and workshop! 🚂🏠🔨
🚂 BIG NEWS, NGLS CREW! 🚂
The final push to finish our clubhouse and workshop is officially underway — and this is where you come in!
We’re launching a series of every‑other‑weekend workdays, giving everyone plenty of chances to jump in, lend a hand, learn something new, and be part of the team that brings this project across the finish line. This is one of the biggest upgrades in our club’s history, and we want as many members as possible to be part of it.
Whether you swing a hammer, paint a wall, move materials, or simply bring good energy — your help matters. Every workday gets us one step closer to celebrating a fully finished clubhouse and workshop at our October Fall Meet… and yes, we’re aiming to have it done this year 😉
Come out, get involved, make memories, and help build something the whole club will enjoy for years to come.
Let’s do this — together.

The threat of rain didn’t put a damper on our latest run day.
The day started out with clouds and sprinkles throughout much of the Atlanta area but as the trains began to arrive the clouds lightened and the railroad stayed dry all day. Many thanks to our all-volunteer team making the day such a success. The railroad ran great, and everyone seems to be getting used to the new route that was finished during the winter months. The railroad ran mostly steam engines on Saturday but had help from the club diesel and members Davenport switcher to help all of the visitors experience the railroad. Our Gauge 1 crew also operated our elevated railroad providing many more memories and enjoyment for everyone in attendance. We look forward to seeing everyone around the railroad during our next run day this fall or if you’d like to come out during one of our workdays and learn more about what we do keep an eye out on our website or social media for the latest on our schedule.

Recap of our April 13, 2024, public run day
A big thank you to our members, volunteers, and visitors as we opened the 2024 season. We couldn’t do what we do without each and every one of you. The railroad saw five steam engines, five diesel locomotives, and lots of rolling stock running around the railroad. A big thanks to Liz from Operation Life Saver in helping share the importance of railroad safety. Also, a special thank you to our photographer Nat for taking lots of great photos from Saturday’s event. We look forward to seeing everyone around the railroad at our May 18th public run day.
