September 30, 2012 - The Second Annual Full Steam Ahead Golf Tournament hosted by the North Georgia Live Steamers was a rousing success.  Forty golfers vied for the right to claim the coveted first place plaques and prizes. The weather was perfect and Cherokee Run Golf course was in excellent shape.  No one was able to conquer the Hole in One sponsored by Premier Building Systems.  An outstanding barbecue lunch prepared and served by the Cherokee Run staff preceded the awards ceremony and give away prizes. The winning team representing the City of Conyers consisting of David Spann, Brad Sutton, Mike Leathers and Tony Lucas won with a score of -15.  The second place team representing Mechanical Services finished at -13.  The team from Premier Building Systems walked away with both the long drive and closest to the pin prizes.  Twenty plus other prizes were awarded and all who attended had a great time.  Look for the Third Annual Full Steam Ahead Golf Tournament the last week of September, 2013.  More information will follow as the date and time is finalized.

April 9, 2011 - Club members met at the new track to continue construction. Due to a recent storm, the first order of businees was clearing a number of trees that had fallen. No damage to the track was found. About 150' of new track was laid and ballasted.

January 8, 2011 - NGLS club members met to discuss a variety of business items and elect club officers for the 2011 calendar year. Many interesting issues were discussed. Approval was given to add the ability for NGLS web site users to make monetary donations to the club online.

March 13-14, 2010 - NGLS was once again "on the road" attending the NMRA-sponsored train show at Cobb Galleria. We again had a display with several locomotive samples. Click here to see some pictures from the show.

March 6-7, 2010 - NGLS hosted a display table at the Great Train Show at the North Atlanta Trade Center. Lots of railfans of all sizes stopped by the displays to see the locomotives and other display materials. Fun was had by all!

January 9, 2010, Conyers, GA - The annual club meeting was held at Hawthorne Suites next to the new track. Officer and director elections were held (click here to see the list of officers). A revised set of by-laws was also approved.

January 1, 2010, Conyers, GA - The New Year's Day run at the Lass home was a big success. The weather cooperated with a sunny but cool day. There was one guest locomotive and about 60 people in total. Three steam locomotives were run at various times during the day.

Web Changes

The web site was recently overhauled and given a new face. This is in preparation for other changes that will be coming your way in the near future.

Track Construction Updates

Work on the new track has been sporadic the last few weeks due to the weather. Construction of the steaming bays, turn table, unloading rig, and other infrastructure is occuring as time, funds, and the weather permit.
